Net, Something to Hold

The fishing net is a metaphor for the web of expectations, traditions, and social relations that encompass women’s bodies and identities. Yet, this same structure can also be a symbol of solidarity, resistance, and the connection between women. Each strand of hair carries a unique experience, woven into a shared narrative of memory, suffering, care, and survival.

In this work, hair—a material usually defined by beauty or sexuality—becomes a tool for reclaiming the female narrative. The net is no longer a means of entrapment; it is a space to reveal hidden structures of power and to rethink identity, the body, and freedom. This work is an attempt to transform what has always been the object of the gaze and judgment into a language of resistance and a redefinition of identity.
